The locations of YDR's secluded retreat destinations are trade secrets. Yankee Dog Retreat is not a facility but a luxury all-day field-trip for dogs to places like sandy beaches, forests, training arenas, private fields and resort areas. Each full-day Retreat is tailored to the physical, health and emotional capabilities and needs of each dog. Dogs on Retreat return home groomed, massaged, exercised, trained with new skills and experiences, socialized, fed and loved. Retreats are fun for your dog and promote their physical and mental well-being - a better gift than any temporary toy or biscuit you could buy. Weather is not usually a barrier to Retreats, and dogs are always kept happy and comfortable. Retreats are a great way to break-up the long, indoor Winter months or give your dog a Summer vacation day.

A typical retreat begins with a quiet walk into a lush forest. The sounds of the city and cars hush, and dogs perk their ears to the sound of birds singing in the treetops. Setting their own pace, paws trot across the forest floor, stopping here and there to smell the breeze and listen to rustling. Hidden lakes with collars of beige sand appear at the end of meandering woodland paths. Some swim and water retrieve, some wade while others sink their toes into the sand and greet their wet friends at the shore. Dig, chew, snort and roll around; there's no hurry. Venture down another path that opens to a field of grass and sunshine. There are rocks to climb and sticks to break. The day has just begun....
